Laughing at Midnight

Eldon is becoming quite an amazing husband. I'm becoming quite the amazing wife. Isn't it fun how you grow together in marriage and hit that stage where you both just "get" each other? We may have taken longer than some couples, but we're in our fun stage. :) Two years ago this conversation would have gone SO much differently ... In fact, I think I'll write both:

(Context: I'd just come home from watching American Idol with friends.)

Eldon: Did you have fun?

Shelli: Yeah, I really did. I just love Justin and Melissa.

Eldon: You realize you watched 4 hours of media today, right?

Shelli: Oh get over it. You know I hardly ever watch TV.

Flash forward an hour and we're about to go to sleep. Literally, we have our eyes closed.

Shelli: I'm ready for you to say you're sorry.

Eldon: I'm sorry.

(Shelli smiles in the dark)

Shelli: For what?

Eldon: silence

(Shelli bursts out laughing in the dark, followed by the relieved laughter of Eldon)

Shelli: Do you even know why you should apologize?

Eldon: (after a pause) I'm sorry for telling you you watched 4 hours of media today.

(Shelli and Eldon both erupt in laughter)

Shelli: You're forgiven.

***** This is how it would have gone two years ago: *****

Shelli: silence

Eldon: What's wrong?

Shelli: I can't believe you said that to me. I don't need your permission to watch television, you know.

Eldon: I didn't say you did.

Shelli: Well, you implied it.

Eldon: silence

Shelli: silence

*****

Ahhhhh ... we've come so far. :) This might not be funny to anyone but Eldon and me, but since this is our blog I must document it. Marriage is such a funny endeavor.

TWO years old??

Okay, is it just off-the-charts weird that I could hardly sleep last night knowing that when I woke up Chiara wasn't going to be one anymore? Eldon says she's not two until 8:00pm since that's when she was born. :) I say it's true. We have three more hours of one-ness.

I took her to get her pictures taken at Walmart this morning, since every other photo place was a million more miles away. Gotta love our little town in the boondocks. I'm going to put the preliminary photos here, sorry about the copyright watermarks ... If I would have bought the CD for $250 they would be prettier. I almost cried to have to leave all those beautiful pictures, but oh well. We can take more. :)

I think Chiara is the cutest thing I've ever seen. I even love that picture where she's sobbing. :) It's so her to put her finger to her mouth in the ultimate poor-little-victim pose. Usually she puts her hands over her mouth when she cries ... I just think it's the cutest thing. This is the one I ordered to send to grandparents and frame on her bedroom wall. I can't believe how grown up she looks compared to last year's picture!

Happy birthday, Baby Sweet. Daddy and Mommy are so in love with you! We're yours forever.
